Haere Mai/Welcome to Te Whānau O Mihaere… the website of the Mihaere family/whanau who originate from Wairoa, New Zealand. Mihaere are indigenous Māori, descendants of Kahungunu. Our ancestors/Tipuna arrived in Aotearoa on the Takitimu canoe, and our turangawaewae is Te Rauhina Marae in Kihitu, Wairoa, New Zealand.
We are so glad you dropped by. If you are descendants of the Mihaere whanau, kei te pai, welcome home. If you are a visitor from another family/whanau we warmly welcome you to our online home.
Have a look around. If you are Mihaere we suggest you check out our whakapapa page to see if you are there. If you can’t find your name or the name of a relative or your tipuna, don’t worry it will be there soon.
Also, check out our blog. This is where we collect and curate our story, past and present, so it becomes a rich depository of knowledge for our tamariki/children and mokopuna/grandchildren.
If you are from the Mihaere whanau we encourage you to signup to our mailing list. A sign up form is further down this page.
Once you’ve had a good look around we suggest you jump out to our Facebook page where we communicate what’s going on, on a regular basis. If you want to get an idea of the current Facebook feed just scroll down from here and it will give you a bit of an idea.
